Bio

Miroslav Petkov, Bulgarian musician, is Principal Trumpet of theRoyal Concertgebouw Orchestra. He is also an internationally recognised trumpet soloist, as well as Professor of Trumpet at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In Varna, Bulgaria, Miroslav was born into a family of non-musicians, but his childhood was surrounded by music. He started his trumpet studies at age eleven with Ivan Iliev at the National School of Arts Dobri Christov. After graduating, he continued his studies in Germany with Max Sommerhalder at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. From there, he began to receive international recognition, winning prizes at trumpet competitions including the YAMAHA International Trumpet Contest, the ARD Music Competition and others. Before moving to Amsterdam in 2016, Miroslav held the position of Principal Trumpet at theNational Theater Mannheim in Germany. Alongside his classical music career, Miroslav enjoys sharing his love for folklore music. Combining it together with his fascination for jazz, electronica and other contemporary styles, he has shapedance authentic musical signature.
